The Personalised System of Instruction (PSI)
Learners are allowed the time they need to achieve mastery and may not progress until they master the concept they are working on.
The foundational concept of PSI is that learning remains constant whilst time is variable. This contrasts with conventional education systems where time on task is constant and learning is variable.

Curriculum Products
As the official distributing agent of the A.C.E. programme, Accelerated Education Enterprises (AEE) has an active curriculum development department that is constantly in touch with the Department of Basic Education’s curriculum requirements. Curriculum specialists are drawn from around South Africa who are constantly writing new, relevant curriculum materials as well as reviewing existing materials to ensure ongoing alignment with the national curriculum applicable in South Africa. The A.C.E. materials therefore address all the core subjects in all school phases from Grade R–12 as required in South Africa.Click on the buttons to view the product range.
How does the A.C.E. Programme work?
Understanding the Programme
This unique methodology is founded on ‘5 Laws of Learning’ that acknowledges the uniqueness of each student, develops good judgement, and recognises the importance of discipline, motivation and accountability.
5 Laws of Learning
A.C.E.’s academic philosophy is based on its 5 Laws of Learning. These A.C.E. foundational concepts are the cornerstone of a student’s academic success.
The 5 Laws of Learning is illustrated by the following explanation and video:
- A student must be on a level where he can perform.
- A student must set reasonable goals he can achieve in a set period of time.
- A student must be controlled and motivated.
- A student’s learning must be measurable.
- A student’s learning must be rewarded.
Bite Size Modules
Accelerated Christian Education has taken the conventional textbook and divided it into bite-sized, achievable worktexts called PACEs. Each PACE is more or less equivalent to a unit in a textbook. Each level consists of 12 PACEs per subject.
Full colour explanations and illustrations add excitement to each lesson, and innovative learning activities reinforce the interesting text material. Throughout the programme the introduction of new vocabulary words is controlled so that no word is used without the learner first learning its meaning and pronunciation.
The Bible-based PACEs integrate character-building lessons into the academic content and are carefully designed to develop critical thinking skills.

Life Skills Training
Learners begin their PACE work by noting their goals, the concepts they will learn, a Bible verse, and a corresponding character trait. From the very beginning of each PACE they know what is expected, and they assume the responsibility for their own learning.
Assessment
Each PACE contains Checkups which are mini-tests covering a section of the PACE. If mastery in an area is not achieved, the Checkup will reveal that weak area. Learners can then take time to review and learn those concepts.
Upon completion of the activities and Checkups, learners prepare to take the Self Test (a practice test). Here learners evaluate themselves to determine readiness for the PACE Test. When the Self Test is successfully completed, the learner hands in the PACE and takes the PACE Test the following school morning.
The PACE Test objectively measures the learner’s mastery of the material. On successfully passing the PACE Test, the learner progresses to the next PACE.
Reading Development
Preschool (Grade R): Preschool with Ace and Christi
The Preschool with Ace and Christi programme is the first building block towards learning to read. Four daily instruction manuals are provided for the instructor, resulting in minimal preparation. The preschool programme features a complete syllabus of concepts and skills needed to prepare Grade R children to be ready to read. Sixty workbooks (PACEs) filled with animal pictures, activities and full-colour picture stories encourage children to want to read. The learner learns social skills, the wonders of God’s world and the reality of God’s love.View video
Grade 1: ABC's with Ace and Christi
The ABC's with Ace & Christi is the second building block on the journey of learning to read. This is the most exciting year of any child’s schooling career. It is the giant step into “big school” where uniforms and school bags bridge the gap from Grade R into Grade 1. It is the miracle year of the A.C.E. educational programme as learners experience the joy of learning to read. Within 15 weeks learners will be able to read words phonetically.View video
